Ceres, as this has been promoted to a dwarf planet (like pluto which was demoted to a dwarf planet), done by the IAU (International Astromoners Union), not astrology. And Chiron is also a dwarf planet discovered in 1977. For these two I give it a 3 degree orb. However, with Pluto although demoted, I have not change any orbs as I find it works well with a much wider orb.

    What is the best orbs to use for asteroids, specifically Juno?
    I know that Juno gives you an idea of what type of marriage partner you will get. I have a Juno square my Jupiter which indicates I may enter a marriage in which their are extra-marital affairs. However, I heard that orbs used on asteroids that aspect other things is b/w 0-3 degrees. My Juno square Jupiter is at 4.14 degrees….

    • ANSWER:
      I wouldn’t consider the asteroids at all for such reading. There’s already a way to tell the type of marriage partner you’ll have, how many times you’ll be married, and how well the marriages will go. They’re all derived from the Descendant and its lord and their relationship with the Ascendant and that lord which is much more philosophically feasible than attempting to use a questionable asteroid.

      Concerning orbs though, there are a few different schools of thought. There’s one chart of orbs that’s given by the Foundation of Astrological Studies which attempts to give different orb allotments based on the aspect involved. This system gives Oppositions and Conjunctions the largest orb and it slowly dwindles down from there to several lesser aspects. A more traditional idea is that the orb differs depending on the planets involved. The Sun would have 8 and a half degrees, the Moon has six, Mercury and Venus have 3 and a half, Mars gets four, and Jupiter and Saturn get four and a half. You simply add up the numbers of the planets involved and the sum of their moeity (the degrees I listed) tells you how much space you can consider the aspect. So, a Square between the Sun and Moon gets 14 and a half degrees (6+8 and a half) of an orb because those planets are obviously so much brighter and give off a lot more light (which is where the ideas of aspects and orbs originate), whereas a Square between Mercury and Saturn would only get 8 degrees (3 and a half + 4 and a half) because those planets are much dimmer in the sky.

      For the outer planets, asteroids, and other non-luminous objects, the idea is to use 5 degrees, or 2 and a half on either side of the aspect, so for Juno and Jupiter, for example, you’d do 2 and a half + 4 and a half and get 7.

      I know that any paper I would write about any of the Roman gods would start off by explaining how the Romans did not merely steal the Greek gods and that the Roman gods are not really equivalent to the Greek gods contrary to popular belief. The Romans took many of the Greek myths about the gods and applied them to their own, but the Roman gods existed before the Romans knew anything about the Greeks. Some of the roles of the gods were altered to fit the Greek myths, but the Roman gods never became synonomous with the Greek gods, at least, not until we in the modern age began to look back at Greek and Roman culture. Juno is often equated with Hera, but she is not really the same goddess. She took on some of Hera’s roles because she was the Roman queen of the gods, but she is not the same.       Actually…the melvins do not appear in the film other than the poster and TONS of lip service. In an interview with Buzz he was asked the question along the lines of how could the Melvins be such an intergal part of the movie yet they wouldnt play any of their music. He laughed and said that would mean they would have to get paid and of course in true Melvins fashion that couldnt happen because they never get paid. Believe me, if they would have actually played any Melvins song in the movie they would have been credited and paid. Ellen and Jason sing a cover version of Hole’s “Doll Parts”. However if you confuse Hole with the Melvins well….just go buy some Melvins CD’s.       To be frank, it means that the person that more embodies the qualities that a Sagittarius has than the person actually BEING a Sagittarius Sun. I also have Juno in Sagittarius and so far it seems that the girl I’m in love with has her Venus and Eros in Sagittarius, but is a Scorpio Sun, Moon, Mercury and Pluto. She does show some key Sag qualities that make her feel like she’d complete me indeed.

      Juno is the Roman name for Hera. She’s not a messenger deity. You may be thinking of Hermes, Roman name Mercury. He was the messenger of the gods, and a bit of a prankster.
